Adventure Outdoors - West Coast Hiking Trails - Idyllwild Park Hike I was down in Southern California in a little mountain resort town called Idyllwild. While I was there I took an impromptu hike in a place just outside of town called Idyllwild Park. When I started the hike, I had no destination in mind. I just wanted my boots to hit the dirt and rock and get outside for a few hours. After a short time on the trail I decided to hike to the Nature Center, then onto a place called Bedrock Mortars. The trails were really nice, but the trail markers and map they provided were very confusing. I ran into more than a handful of hikers, including myself trying to find the right trails to any of the destinations. I did not go inside the nature center as they wanted to charge an additional fee on top of the parking fee already paid. So I decided to head back down the trail and back to the parking lot. All in all this was a nice quick getaway hike for a couple hours, spending time out in the woods. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to kill a few hours out in the woods. The trail starts off steep, but does tapper off after about a half mile or so. So wear good hiking shoes. West Coast Hiking
