How many sets should you do to build muscle and strength? Is high volume training worth the effort?
There's no clear answer that works for everyone. There are too many influences to take into account. That's why I use a simple method to gauge how many sets are effective and which ones are not worth the effort. Because more is not always better when it comes to training, but you also don't want to short change yourself.
That's why I recommend continuing to do sets as long as there's a stimulation effect coming from them. If you're just cruising along from one set to the next, the pay off may not be worth the effort.
